suspectclass | When the days and nights are long

So I'm feeling quite accomplished and excited right now. So excited, in fact, that I think I'll post in bullet form. Watch me!

I talked with e. carr of

citricbaba fame for 3.25 hours yesterday! What did we talk about? I'm glad you asked.

We talked for part of the time about my project -- women fighting for change within Catholicism. We talked about Dorothy Day, and other suggestions she had of people and groups I should investigate.

We talked about my desire to study scripture in a way that is both spiritually helpful and intellectually significant for my project. We're talking about getting together a group of radical catholics in the Noho (and related) area to do a catholic, radical, feminist reading of the bible. What all of this will mean, we don't know. For one, what do we mean by radical? I've been thinking of it in terms of radical within the Church, but we didn't sit down and define any of this. Although we're talking about this from a Catholic perspective, I don't see any reason why it would be an exclusively Catholic group. This isn't exactly an announcement, but if anyone out there has any experience with this sort of thing, and would like to tell me how it worked for them, that'd be great.

We talked about the possibility of my joining the now-forming group of Smithies who want to get confirmed in the Church.

The music director is looking for student input on the hymns, so I may get to go and contribute to that.

I'm lending her trans lit. She's very excited.

e. carr is just generally really really cool. She embodies what my mother was talking about in living by example. She seems to really have a sense of peace. I don't mean that she seems emotion free, nor am I doubting that she has her own burdens and worries, but she seems so centered. It's quite inspiring.

I got an ethernet card, so I'm finally posting from my room!

Holly and I played hooky yesterday. We slept all morning and then stayed in bed until after 4. Yay for day-long vacations!

I'm exhausted and a bit sick and hungry, and someone made the hallway smell very strongly of perfume. Ew. Why is that even necessary? Honestly.
