Let it begin with me
The vigil that I and one of the Newman Assoc. people put together tonight just finished. There was a small group. We lit emergency candles in a circle outside of Helen Hills Hills and sang Dona Nobis Pacem. People told their stories about 9/11, then we held hands and sang again.
Describing it this way does nothing to tell you how I felt. It felt amazing to be a part of something so intimate and peaceful and hopeful, as it always does. On top of that was the knowledge that I had helped create and organize something that gave people who needed it a place to be, and sent some hope and love out into the universe and one another. People thanked me for organizing it, but I was so grateful that anyone came at all. It was very powerful, and though I feel somewhat drained, I feel calmer than I have in ages.
