I was just reading some posts in the
queerchoice community, and I found it really interesting. I wouldn't say that I chose to be attracted to other females, but at the same time I get tired of "we're born this way" as a reason not to discriminate against us. I mean, sure, I think a lot of it is innate, but I dislike the idea that I am a victim of my genetics, and everyone should take pity on me and let me marry and adopt with other poor saps such as myself. Hrm.

It was good hanging out with you last night. I'm glad we were able to talk too, even though the security guard wasn't exactly hospitable.

Yeah, the whole "pity me I'm making excuses for my existence" thing as a valid argument in identity politics annoys me. You choose your religion, you choose your politics, you choose your opinions-even if they seem inherent, they're *not* and yet, they are protected. In order for me to have basic rights, however, I have to claim non-involvement? Puh-leeze.
