Today we got out of class early (again), because it was teacher evaluation day. I skipped the parts about what I liked best about the the teacher and the class, but ran out of space for what I liked least about the teacher. As if it will change anything, but hey. It's cathartic. I am reading a book on writing memoirs, and have promised myself to write more--and about things that matter to me, too. Not just my silly "this is what happened to me today in chronological order" that usually goes into the paper journal. I think it's working. As drood has pointed out, it's not about capturing every moment, it's about getting the important ones. Or something of the like.
Today's Museum of Science and Industry mission was successful. We made it for the last hour, and enjoyed it mightily (and for free!) Friday is Field Museum and Aquarium. The Art Institute may happen this weekend, but I will definitly go at some point, because I want to see the design and architecture exhibit. Anyone else want to go? (But no Ansel Adams).
Off to read creepy comics with girlfriend.

Chilean poet Pablo Neruda was master of the ode, a lyric blessing that bestows praise and thanks. Some of the subjects that received Neruda's appreciation were grand: his "Ode to the Moon of the Sea," "Ode to the Birth of a Fawn," and "Ode to a Beautiful Nude." But the majority of his praise poems were directed at far more ordinary experiences: for example, his "Ode to a Bar of Soap," "Ode to a Pair of Socks," and "Ode to French Fries." You are now entering a phase, Capricorn, when it will make most sense to draw inspiration from the latter rather than the former: Neruda's skill at recognizing the miracles latent in simple things. On behalf of the cosmic powers-that-be, I invite you to compose your own odes to the wonderful conveniences, friends, and pleasures that you sometimes take for granted.
