I'm updating from the U Wisconsin-Superior computer lab. Girl Scout camp was, well, superior (haha). Mmmm Wilderdyke and I built an entire wall section of a cord-wood cabin together! I learned how to mix morter ((3 pts sand, 1 pt each wet sawdust, lime & concrete) X 3), paddled a kayak, saw a 50ft muskie, hung out in a sauna, sang along to mix cds, saw a shoe tree and a landfill camel and looked at some stars. I was attacked by a giant (HUGE) fly in the out-door showers and had to be saved by a towel wielding girlscout (naked!). Twice.
I bought a book of Billy Collins' poetry in Hayward -- why didn't I start reading him sooner? I read some, wrote a bunch in my actual, physical, made of paper and closes journal. Now it's back to my life, such as it is, and attempting to get gainful employment. But I'm definitely leaving a little bit of me, just like every other time I'm in the north woods. I may be working at barnes&noble in a week, but some part of me will be spending the summer climbing trees & scurrying over rocks to reach a lighthouse & swimming in the lake and squishing guck in her toes.
