*Lake Shore Drive. Will that joke ever get old? Well, yes. When I was, like, 9.

Drove South on the drive this morning while the sun was making it impossible to look at the lake. It was almost like I was a grown up with a life.

Hard to believe I've only been back from Minnesota for a few days, it seems like centuries. Can I go back now please? Except I want a job, I want a life, and I'm starting to think it might happen, just because it really has to at this point. I have people plugging for me and sending my name on to other people and I just really want someone to give me a job so I can pay some bills and live in Chicago and take the GRE and apply to grad school and go to the next phase of my life. This year is like the vacation, except where I work and get paid (eventually). Then (if I get in and can go and like it caveat caveat caveat) off to Boston to hang out with some priests and find out if I can stand Catholics.

But really, the northwoods are so lovely this time of year. ::sigh::

This morning I started working organizing my old boss' office. I'm thinking I should put posters up

  • Office a mess?
  • Dissertation need formatting?
  • Can't see your dining room table?

    Let me organize your life!

Ok, not terribly cute, but really. I'm good at it, as long as it's not mine. I'm sure there're plenty of harried grad students desperate for someone to clean their mess, and too stressed out to do it themselves. I'm even willing to consider barter. I *do* need a new pair of boots...
