It was one of those mornings today. I was a little restless in my sleep, but when the alarm went off I was one with my bed and snoozed until a little after six. Which meant I would be late if I did my typical routine. So I made myself the deal that if I could get my ass out of the house in 20 minutes I could get breakfast at Einstein's.

I have heard many a person complain that Chicago has no decent bagels, and they may well be right. Being the ignorant Midwesterner that I am, however, I wholly enjoy lox etc. on Einstein's Challah rolls. I get them about once a month, often under similar circumstances to today's self-bribing. Now I'm at work, well-rested, caffeinated and fed. I just need something to do.

ETA:Livejournal spell-check does not know "Challah". I am shocked and dismayed.

Silly Gentile, Challah rolls are not bagels.

Yes, I know. I was making a leap in terms of new yorker judgement of chicago's jewish baked and boiled goods. Forgive me for not spelling it out!

I'll have to check it out. Definitely not on my way to work, though!
