My mother used to make me be her glasses-finder (back when I was little and didn't yet need vision correction myself). This was especially fun when it was the 80s and she wore these huge clear plastic frames. They were basically invisible glasses.
My friend's mom has about five pairs of over-the-counter drugstore reading glasses. Whenever I'm over, there's always at least one search for them. I really think she should just put them each on a chain (like they have for pens at the bank) and attach a pair to each place where she's likely to be reading.
I'm also waiting for someone to make a paging device like the ones for cordless phones so that I can just click a button and make my glasses beep. Of course, I'd probably just lose the key, too.
