I was wondering if anyone could recommend a moving company that they'd had a good experience with. If it matters, we;re moving within Edgewater at the end of February. We don't need a huge truck, but we do need conscientious movers who won't damage our things in the 10 blocks and 5 cumulative flights of stairs.

We'd prefer not to use movers, but only one of us (Roommate) can get the last day of February off of work, and there's a possibility we'll have to move twice if we don't do it this way (once to a storage space, then to the apartment).

Dire warnings to stay away from a certain mover also appreciated

Apartment People recommends EZ movers. When I was using their services, the agent, who also lives in Edgewater, said she used them herself with good results.
Also, I heard of "2 Women and a Van" (or is it "3 women and a van"? I don't remember). I consulted with them on my last move. I went with someone else who offered an extra person at the last minute for free, but the woman I talked to seemed very professional, and they offered fairly competititve rates.

Good luck. I just moved on Saturday. My body still hurts.
