Irrational waste-of-time pet peeve #205: Inaccurate online quizzes. Especially "humourous" quizzes in which the questions are clearly slanted in a particular direction (especially when it's not political satire, or clever), or quizzes that in 10 questions attempt to discern sexual identity or religious belief. And yet I still take them.

These are the sorts of things that bug me when my grandmother's in the hospital and I'm freaking out about money and life choices. It's much easier to get upset with the anonymous (and likely 13-year-old) author of a stupid quiz than with the fact that my grandmother is sick. It's just about as productive, though. Don't worry, I'm plenty mad at myself, too. [livejournal.com profile] shipbuilding knows: if bad things happen, they are my fault. Unless they're hers.

Bad things happen all the time. That is but one of many ways to make bad things happen. You can also think bad thoughts, or say bad things, or touch someone else down there, or be mean or be selfish or be thoughtless or swear.

I have done most of these things recently. Plus there was that one time, at God camp, when Eve at the apple. That's really why bad things happen. Because women are evil.
